The United Nations Population Division has recently changed its predictions for what will happen for the next 90 years. The predictions suggest that the world is set to change drastically over the next several decades. Africa will see a population and economic expansion nearly unparalleled in human history.
Demographics
At the moment Africa’s population density is relatively low, it’s a vey big continent more sporadically populated than Europe or East Asia. According to the UNICEF Generation 2030 Africa report, the current 1-billion plus population is expected to more than double within the next thirty years and it’s under 18 population is expected to increase by two thirds to almost 1 billion.
Individual Resources
Improvements in education, healthcare and technology have greatly helped empower individuals, as never before, which has lead to more demand for engagement and participation in government and pubic decision-making. These transformations will continue and are bringing in a new era in human history in which by 2022, more people are expected enter the middle-class bracket than the poor bracket.
Technological Advancement
ICT (Information and communication technology) has significantly developed and changed society in the past 30 years. A new amount of technological improvement is creating great opportunities for the African population.
Globalisation
Due to increased globalisation, more international trade and capital is expected to help Africa improve economic development especially as China has invested billion’s in Nigeria’s oil market.
With globalisation, an increase in education, interconnected economical resources between Africa and the world, the future of Africa is looking very bright indeed.
